Discipline is a basic element of all competitive sports and a student-athlete must realize that they will forego some individual rights for the sake of team success.  Our purpose in having you sign this statement is to prevent any misunderstanding of our intent and purpose in athletics here at Everett Community College.  We are trying to develop better students, better citizens, and better athletes. To do this, we feel there are rules that the student-athlete should be governed by, as directed by the coaches and the respective athletic association of which this college is a member.  This association is the Northwest Athletic Conference – NWAC.

Student-Athletes will be disciplined or dismissed from a team for:

  1. Misrepresenting the team and or college by actions or appearances, and being a discredit to the team and/or college.
  2. Abusive language – on campus, in class, at practices, during games and while representing the college and/or the team.
  3. Missing or being tardy for practices or game(s) according to the attendance rules established by the coach, along with excessive absences from classes.
  4. Violating Team Policies, as set forth by the coach. These include, but not limited to: not participating in mandatory practices, workouts, fundraising; attending established study halls; following travel rules/expectations; being disrespectful to coaches and/or teammates at any time.
  5. The use of any type of tobacco products will not be allowed while participating in intercollegiate athletics.
  6. The use of alcohol, drugs and illegal supplements of any kind will not be allowed.
  7. Participating in the act of hazing of anyone at any time. Hazing is an act that endangers the mental or physical health or safety of an individual (including, without limitation, an act intended to cause personal degradation or humiliation), or that destroys or removes public or private property, for the purpose of initiation in, admission to, affiliation with, or as a condition for continued membership in a group or organization.

  8. Bullying of anyone – verbally, physically, on social media or any other form will not be tolerated.

  9. Participate in any type of behavior prohibited by Title IX. Title IX is federal law that prohibits discrimination based on sex. Sex discrimination includes all forms of sexual misconduct (such as sexual harassment, sexual assault, rape, and stalking).  Sexual harassment includes, but is not limited to, unwelcome sexual advances/flirtations, sex-based conduct that is intimidating, hostile or offensive, requests for sexual favors, offensive physical contact, display of sexually demeaning objects or pictures, unwelcome remarks of a sexual nature to describe a person’s body or clothing, sexual assault/rape and/or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature that is prohibited by the college.  Title IX also prohibits discrimination based on a person’s LGBTQIA+ identity, pregnancy or parenting status, or marital status.

  10. Unauthorized entry or occupancy of college facilities or blocking access to or egress from such areas.

  11. Unauthorized use of college supplies or equipment.

  12. Disorderly conduct: lewd, indecent, or obscene conduct or expressions as defined by law.
